I was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. I studied law at university and have had many interesting jobs, including working at a cake store, at a children’s shoe store, in a legal centre helping refugees and as a youth worker in remote Northern Territory. I am currently based in Sydney, and work as a research assistant at a charity.
I am inspired to write by the things I have seen and experienced. My award-winning debut junior novel, Figgy in the World, was born from memories of my three month trip to Ghana, West Africa in 2009. Many of the locations I visited and Ghanaian kids I met are depicted in my novel. The second Figgy novel is entitled Figgy and the President. And the third, Figgy Takes the City, was released in September 2017.
My newest stand-alone junior novel is Blossom, a fantasy/mystery set in Australia. It follows the adventures of 10 year old Lottie, who one day discovers a strange little girl, Blossom, on her doorstep.
